Alibaba Cloud Valley Park Hangzhou
A high-tech campus of digital transformation
Central “Cloud Square” as a connecting element between east and west
Landscape axes, water features, and courtyards for exchange and recreation
Hangzhou is developing into a centre for high-tech and innovation in China. The campus forms part of this strategy and provides space for one of the world’s leading cloud and AI platforms. The aim was to create a working environment that enhances efficiency and communication while offering a high quality of stay.
The planning follows an east-west axis. At the centre, the “Cloud Square” connects the two main areas: to the west, a large ring-shaped office complex; to the east, eight individual buildings aligned along the landscape axis. This spatial organization creates short distances and promotes exchange between teams.

The building envelopes take up the theme of “data transfer”: horizontal lines and dynamic aluminum louvres symbolize the flow of digital information. Chamfered corners and recessed balconies create striking accents and give the campus a distinct identity.
Courtyards, water features, and green axes run through the campus, creating places for recreation and informal encounters. The landscape concept integrates a water system that flows through the site like a “stream of data”.
The floor plans are designed for large spatial connections and efficient vertical circulation. Service areas face the courtyards, while bridges and walkways provide horizontal links. The result is a campus that supports different working styles and can adapt to future requirements.
