Connected working environment at the heart of the trade fair

The new company headquarters on the approximately 40 hectare trade fair site marks a key component in the ongoing development of the Koelnmesse grounds. The result is an open and interconnected working environment that meets the requirements of an internationally active exhibition organisation.

Green ribbon as a defining design element

White elegance

The new headquarters is located on the southern side of the site, positioned between the trade fair and Köln Deutz station, and completes the new appearance of Koelnmesse with its façade of silkmatt white ceramic cladding. It reflects a shift towards a white, understated elegance as already seen at the South Entrance and Confex.

Connectivity & flexibility

Above the transparent ground floor, structured by green courtyards, there are three office levels. They are designed as modular spaces that allow for a variety of working methods, ranging from open-plan areas to cellular office layouts. A central spine leads to the main hub, the communicative heart of the building, defined by a multi-storey void.

Green ribbon

The new headquarters is consistently greened. Along the central spine, a sequence of planted courtyards forms the basis of the terraced interior world. Above them, a network of communication and outdoor spaces unfolds, extending to the landscaped roof terraces. The courtyards provide all employees with areas for retreat, rest, and recreation, creating a healthy and dynamic working environment.

“tradefairer” as guiding principle

The timber-hybrid construction of the upper floors, photovoltaic modules on the roof pergola and extensive greenery are visible elements of the “tradefairer” sustainability strategy. The building follows Cradle-to-Cradle principles and aims to achieve DGNB Platinum certification.
